Well, the leaves have come to turning, and the goose has gone to fly... - James Taylor, "Walking Man" It’s the latter end of Autumn, a good time to reflect and take stock on the months passed. It’s been a very eventful year at #BlueDorian, though you might be hard-pressed to see why going purely by output. We’ll take you through the changes, seen and unseen. The biggest project was our first “live” event since before COVID (live meaning “performed live” as opposed to multi-track and extensively overdubbed), and it took some work brushing off cobwebs and remembering how to organize not only an ensemble that was non-virtual, but a repertoire, a studio, and videography elements, to make sure all was adequately represented in a way that would turn out well. Thankfully, all ran smoothly with minimal hoghauling, and we now have ourselves a veritable trove of recorded takes (both audio and visual) through which we’ll sift and put together what will hopefully be an enjoyable watch and listen for you our fans and supporters (we’ll talk in more detail about AFO 2023 in a dedicated blog post). At the end of 2022 we began talks with Moonbow Animation, a boutique animation studio based out of Portugal. Since then, we’ve begun working with them on an ambitious project that takes BlueDorian into as-yet uncharted territory: an animated short featuring music and story written by BlueDorian creator Adam Farouk and centered around the Faerworld Daughters of Time franchise. Their work thus far has been stunning, and seeing these characters - Gwen, Cameron, Roya, and Anneka - brought to life in such fashion only increases our impetus to complete these stories so that we can share them with you. In similar fashion as with AFO, we’ll share more details about this project in a dedicated blog post. We’re fast approaching 2025, which will mark the 25th anniversary of the debut performance of BlueDorian creator Adam Farouk’s “States of Matter.” States of Matter is a musical revue exploring mental health, spiritual metaphysics, and reincarnation, and was first performed on April 6th 2000, directed by Fiona Santos and featuring performances by Bill Meakem, Steven J. Engelbrecht, Jennifer MacDonald, and Elizabeth Geuss. To mark the occasion, BlueDorian will be releasing, in 2025, a 25th Anniversary Commemorative Album of Selections from States of Matter, featuring performances by acclaimed musicians from around the world, as well as new arrangements, and one brand new song, by Farouk. Meanwhile, other projects continue to chug along: 1) The full-length album “Songs from Continuity” officially moves into post-production at year’s end; 2) The “Daughters of Time” fantasy novel series starts to transition from beta to alpha mode as a rigorous period of editing and rewrites continues; 3) and “Ray of Sunshine” goes through its paces with revisions and dramaturgy, to take its first steps from concept album to fully-fledged rock opera. Release-wise, please accept our apologies for the delay in release of EP “AFO 2017 Live @ The Nines Art Gallery” (slated for last November); the record is now scheduled to be released in early 2024 (or, if we can manage it, in time for this Christmas). Also, be informed that Daughters of Time Season One Episodes 11 and 12 will not be released in beta format; the go-ahead has been given for them to be composed in alpha mode from the get go. In addition to these, we anticipate releases of “Beautiful Adventure” (single version) as well as a rough-cuts version of “The Sun Also Rises,” both by Adam Farouk. Finally, the Breakers Vocal Band 2024 EP project has been deferred following the group’s absorption into BlueDorian’s greater Vox Globale vocal music initiative. Thanks for reading and all the best to you. Please spread the word joyfully for this season’s upcoming BlueDorian happenings!
Travel safe, -TeamBD

Salutations! In contrast with 2021, this year proved heavy on behind the scenes work and lighter on actual tangible releases. Not that we’re complaining; in part due to this 2022 was without doubt one of the most fulfilling and overall creatively expansive periods in recent years. As always we send a huge *THANK YOU* to our followers/supporters; in the oversaturated entertainment landscape that exists today we know how difficult it is to seek out independent art, let alone find the time and impetus to give it attention, so please know that your efforts are appreciated, in fact, there’s little that we do that isn’t in some way affected by your choice to support scratch creativity. Here is the year-end summary of 2022 #BlueDorian publications and releases. If you didn’t get to check them out the first time, here they are, all in one place. AFO 2014 features the talents of: Adam Farouk (guitar, vocals); Elizabeth Lorrey (guitar, vocals); Nate Leavitt (guitar, vocals); Tom Appleman (bass guitar, vocals) ProjectsProduction on "Songs from Continuity" nears its conclusion, with only two production sorties left on the docket (well, technically, one and two halves, but we'll call it two). With only one casting change, one instrumentalist substitution, and a minor tempo dispute, we can safely say this has been one of the smoothest production periods TeamBD has ever experienced (fingers crossed!) Next year we'll look forward to a invigorating and fulfilling post-production phase. And lo, we find ourselves in late July, on the other end of the summer solstice, more than halfway through the clusterbiff that has been 2022 (reports say that this is only the beginning...)
Daughters of Time Season One promises its conclusion with two new ebooks in the works (Episodes 11 and 12). Episode 11 is in early development, with its overview currently being solidified in story beatsheet form. In other news, the first ten DoT ebooks are going through a process of full novelization, converting screenplay-style lines into traditional novel-format dialogue. In addition to this, the DoT creative team have begun work with independent editor Max Gordon to finesse scenes and transitions, with the goal of adding a new level of polish to one of BlueDorian’s most promising project titles. The original releases will remain on sale in the BlueDorian Store as “director’s cut” versions of the original ten stories.
Musical releases have been “A Place to Be” by Adam Farouk (Rough Cuts Single) (April 7th 2022), produced and recorded by Pierre Grill at Rendez-Vous Recording, Honolulu HI; “Little Ray of Sunshine” by Adam Farouk (Single) (May 6th 2022), produced by Anthony J. Resta and mixed by Karyadi Sutedja at Studio Bopnique, Burbank CA; and “AFO 2014 REINSTALLED: Live @ Inner Space” by the Adam Farouk Orchestra (EP) (July 15th 2022), recorded by Tim Reppert and mixed by Karyadi Sutedja. Our only other slated release for this year is “AFO 2017 DISCOVERY: Live @ The Nines Art Gallery” by the Adam Farouk Orchestra (EP) (November 11th 2022), recorded by Kevin Thurber and mixed by Karyadi Sutedja, but watch this space—depending on how projects go, room might open up for other releases this year!
What’s this I hear? Ditch the instruments, we’re kickin’ it old school? Indeed, the Breakers Vocal Band are dusting off their SM-58s in preparation for some new projects: a remaster of their 2008 hit EP “V” (“Five”) by master producer Tim Bongiovanni (Northgate Studios); and a brand new record, in all likelihood some manner of 5-song EP, as is their predilection. No further news yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
We’ve also updated our Soundcloud presence. Look there to find clips of not-yet-released BlueDorian material, the latest one being a clip of a track from the Faerworld Daughters of Time collection: “Warmth to Winter" (listen below). Full versions of already released material can still be found on one of our bandcamp artist pages (for the complete BlueDorian account, go to bluedorianrecords.bandcamp.com).
BlueDorian Studios East has expanded this season, with the addition of a new Fender American Ultra Telecaster (Texas Tea, rosewood fingerboard); and a Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb 1x12" 100-watt Combo Amp (blonde). We’re excited to see how these contribute to the mixes.
Finally, “Songs from Continuity” has entered principal production; on this project, everyone is recording at different times, expertly coordinated (and guitar and vocal work contributed to) by Elizabeth Lorrey. So far we’ve seen stellar vocal performances by Michael Kassatly, Anthony Rodriguez, George Hoffman, and David Scott, as well as excellent instrumental work by our rhythm section, Jeff Berlins on drums and percussion, and Tim Reppert on bass. Looking forward to hearing the rest of this great ensemble get to work later on in the summer and into the fall.

Sending you warmest wishes for the very sunniest of sunny days-- Travel safe, -TeamBD 2022 begins with a bang, and an ambitious set of goals for all branches of #BlueDorian’s production department... Daughters of Time Season One careens headlong towards its inevitable conclusion, which sees a final and dramatic confrontation between the forces of light and darkness. Will Gwen and her team of neophytes be vanquished, or will they defy the odds and stand victorious over Arcturus and his mighty legions? (Two new ebooks are in the works: Episodes 11, and 12. Catch them at the BlueDorian Store.) On the music front, three new releases are set to hit the shelves in Q2, beginning with a Rough Cuts version of Adam Farouk’s very first ever original song: “A Place to Be” (1996), produced and recorded by Pierre Grill at Rendez-Vous Recording, Honolulu HI, followed by “Little Ray of Sunshine,” a radio-edit version, performed by Adam Farouk, of the de facto “title track” of last year’s concept album release, “Ray of Sunshine,” produced by Anthony J. Resta, and recorded by Karyadi Sutedja at Studio Bopnique, in Burbank, CA; an EP of five live tracks by the Adam Farouk Orchestra, taken from “AFO 2017: Live at The Nines” Sessions, recorded at The Nines Art Gallery in Harwich Port MA, rounds out the trio. The MAJOR WORK for this year is a ten-song concept album based on material from the Adam Farouk rock opera “Continuity.” Continuity is a story that delves into the world of mental illness, as well as the types of tools and mettle required to either overcome, or else accept and learn to live with it. Over the past three months we've gathered a stellar cast of performers, be they vocalists or instrumentalists (listed below, with links) from far and wide, and we look forward to sharing clips and stories as we go along. CAST: (Role) David Thorne Scott (Joe) Valerie Larsen (Callie) Elizabeth Lorrey (Nurse Anne) Renée Dupuis (Nurse Laura) Anthony Rodriguez (Normal Matt) George Hoffman (Eddie) Michael Kassatly (Connor) ORCHESTRA: Adam Farouk: Keyboards, Synths Elizabeth Lorrey: Guitars Dave Lieb: Guitars Masa Takahashi: Guitars Tim Reppert: Bass guitar Jeff Berlin: Drums, Percussion So keep your ears to the ground, and your voices held high as you *spread the word* for next season’s upcoming BlueDorian events. In just under a week we're thrilled to release this companion series to Daughters of Time. Apocrypha Enigmatis presents, in story form, the lesser-known histories, and delves into uncommon perspectives of the colorful characters who inhabit the Faerworld Omniverse.
In i001, its debut issue, the ebook series grapples with the young life of one of Daughters of Time's chief players: Summer Avatar, and Crown Princess of the Kingdom of Caderas, Gwendolyn Duprée. Absconded and sold to slavery by traffickers at a young age, Gwen's life takes an unexpected turn, from being a beloved member of a privileged family to having to fight each and every day for survival. While her smarts and creativity help her to muster the very basics of a working family, war looms, and with it, colossal strains upon friendships, and the threat of having undermined the interpersonal trust she has taken years, and at no small cost, to build. The story of "Eight Years" is one of courage, compassion, love, inspiration, and finding the magic within you when you least expect it. Featuring the song: "I Will Be the Light" (aka "Gwen's Theme") "I will be the light that can guide you Daughters of Time closes out the year with five books released and more on the way. It’s been an absolute thrill to put these tales together for everyone, and I still marvel at what options we possess at our disposal to communicate these stories to you all. I can’t help but be transported back to my time growing up, learning the basics of “Krell Logo” on an Apple II. If you had told me then that there’d be the ability to interact with, to share with, and to impact people halfway around the world with real-time ease, well, I may not have grasped the significance of that as an eight-year-old, but if I had, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have believed you, at least not at first. Even to be told ten years ago that any, if not all, of the technological, communication, and software advances that presuppose the publishing of our ebook collection—Vellum software, 99Designs.com, Wordfortheweb, Zoom—would have widespread ubiquitous use would likely elicit a snortle of irony rather than immediate belief (“Sure, I’ll keep my myspace page running just in case!”) We continue to be amazed and grateful for these opportunities to participate in the world song, and we hope we can have a positive impact on the people we come across along the way! “I will to love and protect this fair world - Daughters of Time Oath of Fealty (excerpt) from Istoricus Marinicus, Thomas Easton Faerworld ebooks are available for sale at the BlueDorian Store: shop.bluedorian.com
This theme was sketched out in late 2018, with composition being completed in December 2019. An uplifting, anthemic feel was desired, to complement the darker, more gritty main title theme (in development). I repurposed one of my favorite chord progressions from the world of popular song (ten points to Ravenclaw if you can spot what it is) to serve as the piece's harmonic underpinning, then constructed an undulating melody to connote the changing fortunes of the characters as they progressed along their journey, but ultimately ending with a triumphant fanfare. In production, Tim Bongiovanni's keen eye was invaluable in helping craft the piece's arrangement, beginning with the ascending french horns and string arpeggiating obligato, and expanding all the way to the fortissimo brass and woodwinds. Finally, contemporary sampled percussion was mixed with traditional elements such as timpani and triangle, for an integrated sound which blends old and new into what we hope is a well balanced sonic experience. -AF
We're really excited to be working on our latest project—a minute-long, fully-orchestrated, symphonic theme from our very own “Faerworld: Daughters of Time”—with Tim Bongiovanni, at Northgate Studios. Tim combines a resume you’d expect to find deep in the heart of an industrial hub such as Nashville or Los Angeles, with the kind of personal touch and attention to detail that is the hallmark of New England’s privately owned, privately run studios. The piece, created and scored by Adam Farouk, used Sibelius Ultimate software for notation, and was produced using MOTU Digital Performer, with top-quality audio samples overlaid with acoustic symphonic instruments: violin; french horn; and trumpet; specifically. The first ebook in the Faerworld: Daughters of Time series is available for purchase at the BlueDorian store.
Hello friends! As the days grow darker it may become all too easy to slip into modes of despair. But nay, don't let the seasonal affectives get the better of you. Instead, make a date with your eReader of choice, and curl up on the couch in front of the 'ole firetube with a good eBook. And while we're on the subject, why not check out "Daughters of Time: Princess"--the first volume in the breathtaking new series "Faerworld: Daughters of Time" from Nawherman Publishing in conjunction with BlueDorian Media Entertainment. An epic fantasy adventure, filled with equal parts magic, moxie, and mystery, "Faerworld: Daughters of Time" is sure to capture your imagination, awaken your sense of wonder, and chase all the blues away.
